The Oklahoma State Cowboys have added to its basketball program, albeit not anything that can take shape until December. Former four-star recruit and Indiana Hoosiers transfer, Curtis Jones, has reportedly decided to play for Mike Boynton.
Per NCAA transfer rules, Jones will be ineligible to play this season. However, if he enrolls by the spring, he could potentially be cleared to play during the second semester next season.
A 6-foot-4 guard from Richmond, Virginia, Jones appeared in 33 games last season as a true freshman, averaging 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. Unfortunately for the now sophomore, both his minutes and production dipped during this season's campaign, only averaging 3.0 points in 11.4 minutes per contest.
Jones was a member of the 2016 recruiting class. Most reputable recruiting service websites had him pegged as a four-star prospect, with ESPN considering the guard one of the 40 best high school players in the country. Before committing to the Hoosiers, California, Maryland, Penn State, Pitt, and a slew of other big boy programs, were all after his talents. Oklahoma State was among those.
Boynton, who replaced Brad Underwood, has the Cowboys off to a good start this season. Despite coming off a loss in the conference-opener against West Virginia, Oklahoma State has an overall record of 10-3.
