FOX Sports 1's Shannon Sharpe continued his defense of free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his continued search for an NFL job.
During an episode of "Undisputed" on Monday, Sharpe, who won a Super Bowl with the Ravens in 2000, responded to reports that the franchise, specifically owner Steve Bisciotti, reached out to fans through a poll, as well as former Pro Bowl linebacker Ray Lewis, in regards to whether it should sign Kaepernick.
The Hall of Famer compared Kaepernick's situation to former wide receiver Donte Stallworth, who struck and killed a pedestrian while driving his car drunk in Miami Beach in 2009.
"In 2010, they signed one Donte Stalloworth," Sharpe said. "Donte Stallworth was intoxicated, drove his vehicle and killed a pedestrian. Did [Biscotti] call any fan, did he call any sponsors, did he talk to Ray Lewis? When Terrell Suggs went through what he went through with his wife, did he call any sponsors, did he call any fans, did he talk to Ray Lewis about how they should handle the situation? I find it very very convenient now he wants to lean on someone."
Earlier this month, Sharpe weighed in on former NFL quarterback Michael Vick's criticism of Kaepernick in which he suggested he should "cut his hair" to repair his image.
Kaepernick, despite still remaining unsigned has become one the league's most polarizing figures, which has kept teams from taking a chance on him, despite past success as the 49ers' starting quarterback.
