Former Pittsburgh Panther shooting guard Cam Johnson is officially a North Carolina Tar Heel, as the school announced Friday that Johnson was officially a member of the Tar Heels' basketball team and would be eligible to play immediately for the 2017-18 season.
On June 8, Johnson was granted his release from Pittsburgh after a messy breakup from the school and was headed to Chapel Hill.

Johnson, a three-star recruit in high school, was an important piece to the Pitt Panthers last year. He played 32.6 minutes per game and shot 41 percent from.
The Tar Heels, who head into the 2017-18 season as defending national champions, are a perfect spot for Johnson and the kind of game he plays. It's also a huge boost for him to not have to sit out a year, and will have two years of eligibility left.
This was the best possible way this awkward situation could have ended for all parties, as the Tar Heels get a huge transfer that can play immediately, Johnson moves into a better situation, and Pitt can finally move on.
