McClain has Auburn, LSU, South Carolina and Oregon at the top of his list, but he told 247Sports that Auburn leads.
"Auburn is No. 1," McClain said. "I just liked the coaches. They're like father-figure coaches. And I like the way they work out the players and stuff. I liked everything and they made me feel like I was at home."
McClain is being recruited by Auburn linebacker coach Travis Williams, and he said he thought Williams was "cool" and he "keeps it real with you."
McClain could return for Auburn's A-Day game next weekend, and he also said he could make a commitment by August, though he isn't sure at the moment.
According to 247Sports, McClain is the No. 15 outside linebacker in the Class of 2017. He is the No. 22 player from the state of Georgia.
