The opening bout of the UFC 214 pay-per-view card started off with a bang in Anaheim, as underdog Volkan Oezdemir (15-1-0) scored this vicious knockout of No. 3 light-heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa (17-3-0) at the :42 second mark of the first round.
Oezdemir tagged Manuwa with a left hand that eventually sent Manuwa to the mat and caused the finish to the fight. To make matter worse, Manuwa looked like he slammed his head on the ground after getting hit, possibly causing further damage to what was already a significant hit.
With the win, Oezdemir shoots up the rankings in the light-heavyweight division, and he will be hoping for a championship shot down the line at some point against the winner of the Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier fight.
