Former Tennessee quarterback and current USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin is apparently a serious candidate for an assistant coaching job with the Oakland Raiders.
Martin reportedly participated in a courtesy interview with the Raiders for an undetermined assistant coaching job on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
Oakland head coach Jon Gruden has already named Greg Olson as the team's offensive coordinator and the two are expected to handle coaching quarterbacks themselves.
That would likely leave Martin to serve as a wide receivers coach, as he did at Kentucky and USC strictly before adding offensive coordinator duties to his job description in 2016.
Martin was reportedly one of the potential assistant coaches Gruden reached out to when he was linked to the head coach position at the quarterback's alma matter, Tennessee, in November.
The NFL is investigating whether the Raiders interviewed the former quarterback, as well as former tight ends coach Bobby Johnson, as an attempt to comply with the Rooney Rule, which requires teams to interview minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operations jobs.
However, owner Mark Davis has acknowledged that he conducted both interviews after having already agreed to a deal with Gruden, who was reported as the franchise's top candidate prior to his official announcement earlier this week.
