According to The State, Davis will transfer to South Carolina even though Auburn had originally blocked it. Davis will walk on for the 2017-18 academic year to get around the transfer restriction, which is only enforceable through scholarships.

Davis, originally a defensive player in high school, was recruiting by current South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp while Muschamp was serving as Auburn's defensive coordinator back in 2015. It's possible that he could switch back to defense at South Carolina, but that remains to be seen.

Per transfer rules, Davis will have to sit out the 2017 season. He will, however, be able to be put on scholarship next year after he walks on this upcoming season.
