Jake Lynch is the son of San Francisco 49ers executive and former nine-time Pro Bowler John Lynch. On Wednesday, it was the younger Lynch's time in the spotlight, as the linebacker announced that he was committing to play football at Stanford.
Excited to continue my athletic and academic careers at Stanford. Always dreamed of playing here. #cardclass18 pic.twitter.com/55PRm8SioM

Lynch (6-foot-2, 215 pounds, San Diego, Ca.) is currently an unrated recruit, and Mercury News out of San Jose is reporting that Lynch will be a preferred walk-on with the school.
As a whole, Stanford is a bit behind from where they are last year, where head coach David Shaw put together a class that included three five-star recruits. Of course, Stanford is one of the schools that doesn't completely benefit from the early signing period, as several prospects that the school is targeting may not know their eligibility with Stanford's high entrance requirements until February.
Stanford did sign 10 recruits on the first day of the early signing period. The Cardinal currently rank 51st in the recruiting rankings over at 247Sports.
