Ryen Russillo shockingly announced on Wednesday that this will be the final week of the Ryen Russillo Show on ESPN radio.
While he'll remain doing his podcast, after his contract expires, Russillo plans to fulfill a dream of his — writing scripted television.
He laid out discussing an extension, feeling as though he wasn't growing, the more work obligations that would be laid on his plate and more:
ESPN Radio was already in the midst of big changes. First, word broke that Mike And Mike would be going off the air in favor of Golic And Wingo and, even if that was moving to a more radio-friendly format, the shift was likely to be felt in a big way considering the longevity of its predecessor. In addition, Bomani Jones will be transitioning off the air in terms of a full-time radio show, leaving a hole where an entrenched show previously was housed.
Russillo was just the latest in the slew of moves from the worldwide leader in sports entertainment.

Earlier in 2017, Russillo was suspended after being arrested while on vacation in Wyoming. Prior to his current place as the headliner of his own show (previously scheduled to be permanently co-hosted by Will Cain), Russillo was on the air with Scott Van Pelt and Danny Kanell in different iterations of the program.
ESPN's next move in the afternoon ready slot will be an interesting one but it won't include Ryen Russillo after Friday.
