Son of college football legend commits to an unexpected program

Rocket Ismail Jr., the son of former NFL and Notre Dame great Rocket Ismail, has committed to the Wyoming Cowboys. This begs for the obvious question to be asked. Did Jr. actually earn the nickname or was it handed down to him via legacy style?

"Rocket is a young man who brings great speed and athleticism to the wide receiver position," Wyoming coach Craig Bohl said in a statement. "He does a lot after the catch with the ball in his hands. He catches the ball extremely well, catches it away from his body, and will bring great value to the wide receiver room."

Ismail Jr. originally committed to TCU out of high school, but transferred to Cisco Junior College, where he caught 48 passes for 434 yards and four touchdowns. Before that, he was a barely-recruited wideout from Carrolton, Texas.

In fact, he was only a two-star prospect.

For whatever it is worth, Notre Dame did recruit him when he was coming out of high school, but no official scholarship offer was made.

Nevertheless, big boy (kind of) college football now has a Rocket back in the sport.
