The Houston Texans have been desperate to get Brock Osweiler off their hands after a disappointing season where he threw 15 touchdowns against 16 interceptions and was getting paid $72 million over four years with $37 million of it guaranteed when he signed last season. There were also rumors that the Texans were "anxious" to get rid of Osweiler's mammoth contract and it looks like they made it happen.
Stunner: Texans trade Brock Osweiler AND 2018 2nd-rd pick to CLEV for Browns to take Osweiler contract off Houston books, sources tell ESPN.

RELATED: Brock Osweiler's contract is terrible, but there's an expensive way out for the Texans
And this stat will show why this trade is a good one:
Worst single-season comp pct on throws 15+ yds downfield - since 2006
2006 Brett Favre 26%
2016 Brock Osweiler 27%
(min. 100 passes)

And it looks like the Browns could conceivably pull an NBA-like move and actually cut Osweiler in the end:
From what I understand, the #Browns are weighing simply releasing Brock Osweiler after trading for him. NBA style

This would allow Osweiler to sign with another team on a more team-friendly deal that's closer to his actual worth. It would also keep the door open for the Browns to draft a QB in the first round with either the first overall pick or the twelfth pick in the first round.
