There are not many open head coaching jobs left on the Football Bowl Subdivision after the huge coaching carousel that took place this offseason. However, Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry has emerged as a favorite for one of those spots as Bruce Feldman is reporting.

Pry has been the defensive coordinator at Penn State since 2016 and worked with James Franklin at Vanderbilt as well. He was also Georgia Southern's defensive coordinator in 2010 and served in the same position at ULL from 2002 to 2006 so he has some familiarity with the program.
This year, the Nittany Lions are 20th in total defense allowing only 329.3 yards per game. That's a combination of less than 120 rushing yards per game and about 210 passing yards per game. They also allowed only 15.5 point per game, which is good for seventh in the country.
