Michigan five-star Rashan Gary just put up a scary 40 time in spring workouts

Defensive lineman Rashan Gary is the former No. 1 overall recruit of the 2016 class, and he had a promising start to his career last year with 24 total tackles and five tackles for loss. On Thursday is where he really turned heads, though, as Gary reportedly ran a 4.57 40-yard dash at Michigan's spring practice.

DL Rashan Gary who #Michigan lists at 6-5, 287, was timed at a 4.57 40 (faster than all UM LBs) & broad-jumped 9-6 in offseason testing. Wow

Yes, that's a 4.57 for a guy listed at 6-foot-5 and 287 pounds. According to 247Sports, that would have ranked third among lineman at this year's NFL Combine, and would have been the tenth best time overall since 2006. Not only that, but Gary's time in the three-cone L-Drill would have ranked as the best for a lineman since 2011.

Rashan Gary's 40 was head-turning but his 6.70 L-Drill time is quicker than any DL's had at the NFLCombine in 6 YRs: https://t.co/W7vmgq5Jnk

Gary wasn't a first-string on Michigan's defense last season, but he should be getting plenty of time in 2017 after several departures on the Wolverine defensive line. If he's able to turn this physical feats into production on the field, then you need to watch out, Big Ten.
