Malek Young, who started 13 games for the Miami Hurricanes this past season, is unfortunately seeing his career cut short due to injury.
CanesInSight.com has reported the issue as a "neck/vertebrae'' injury. It was an injury supposedly suffered against the Wisconsin Badgers in the Orange Bowl.
Young confirmed the news on his Twitter account:

As a true freshman, the corner played in 12 games for the Hurricanes, starting the last three. He broke out as a talent as a sophomore this past season, appearing in all 13 games for Miami, starting 10 of those contests.
It was a meteoric rise for Young, as he was only a three-star recruit coming out of high school.
Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz went on Twitter to send Young a heartfelt message:
"God has the best plan, even when we don't understand His ways or His timing. You are a great warrior and a true Cane...and there can only be one first...you'll always be the first to rock the chain!"
This is obviously not great news for his football career, but he appears to be taking it in stride. Furthermore, from the glowing and supportive response Young has received from people within the program, it seems like everyone believes he is destined for big things outside of football.
