Former second-round pick has been released following Friday night arrest

After being signed by Dolphins during the preseason, it appears that the Rey Maualuga era is already over in Miami. Maualuga, a former second-round pick out of USC, was arrested overnight on Firday, and it appears that the Dolphins are already making the move to waive the former defensive standout.

Maualuga had been with the Bengals for the first eight years of his career after they drafted him back in 2009. Maualuga had been a consistent member of the Bengals defense before the 2016 season, where his performance significantly declined. He was released by the Bengals, and eventually picked up by the Dolphins in August.

Maualuga, a linebacker, played in six games this year for Miami, starting four prior to being waived by the team.
