Nobody might ever touch Oregon's fire uniforms with all of their crazy combinations, but there isn't a program in all of college football that can hold a candle to the throwbacks North Texas will wear this weekend. Not one.
In addition to finally unveiling a 12-foot bronze statue of "Mean" Joe Greene outside of Apogee Stadium, the Mean Green will honor the legendary defensive tackle by wearing these insane throwback jerseys and helmets when they face Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
The coolest part? For one day only, the No. 75, which terrorized college football offenses over 50 years ago, is coming out of retirement and will be worn by North Texas junior defensive end LaDarius Hamilton.
This video should give the chills to anyone who remembers Greene, whether it's for his college or NFL career, or even his famous and iconic Coca-Cola commercial from 1979.

"Hey, kid," the now-72-year-old Greene says to Hamilton. "Try this one."

A member of the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame, the No. 75 jersey of "Mean" Joe Greene jersey has been retired by North Texas, where he led the Mean Green to a 23-5-1 record in three seasons, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he won four Super Bowls, was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the year in 1972 and 1974.
There truly will never be anyone like Greene, a Temple, Texas native and Dunbar High School star, and there will never be a more-deserving statue or throwbacks as legit as what the Mean Green will wear for the big game.
Simply amazing.
