This fall, the Atlanta Falcons will finally play in their home, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but when the Falcons, along with the big-time college football games scheduled to take place in the new state-of-the-art stadium isn't crystal clear as of this moment.

The project, having already been delayed in the past, could be delayed once again from their July 30 scheduled opening date, according to a new report from the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Via the AJC:

"In a statement provided to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Steve Cannon, CEO of Falcons parent company AMB Group, said the organization hasn't changed the July 30 opening date at this point but is "working through the construction timelines."

Cannon doesn't confirm that the opening date could be delayed, but it certainly sounds like their is cause for concern about the project's timeline.

Cannon goes on to say to the AJC:

"No announced event dates have been changed, and work is moving forward at a rapid pace," Cannon said. "Many areas of the building are finished, and others are nearing completion. We are routinely working through the construction timelines with our partners, and with any building this size, scope and complexity, adjustments to construction timelines are expected."

If the project is delayed once again, the Falcons will actually be the last group effected as Atlanta United and the college football teams are scheduled to play in the new stadium before the Falcons this fall.

The project schedule is reportedly going to be updated in seven to 10 days.
