The heated coaching search between LSU and Texas may not be over yet as the two schools are expected to battle over the services of defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.

According to 247sports, while LSU is prepared to hand over $2 million annually, a friendship that developed in the 1990s between Aranda and Texas head coach Tom Herman may have some pull.
How much Texas would offer Aranda is unclear, but those in Austin believe Aranda's relationship with Herman could mitigate some of the financial considerations. One source called it an "old friend discount."
If Texas doesn't get Aranda, Herman could bring over Houston's Todd Orlando.
According to Football Scoop, LSU is moving quickly and the school believes Aranda will "execute a new contract shortly."
The two schools reportedly competed over the services of Herman before LSU eventually settled for Ed Orgeron. The situation was reportedly heated with LSU's athletic director telling off Herman's agent.
According to multiple reports, Orgeron is expected to target Lane Kiffin for the team's offensive coordinator position as he assembles a top-tier staff.
