Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino announced on Saturday that sophomore cornerback Cornelius Sturghill would miss the season after he was shot in the foot during a drive-by while visiting Memphis.

"He was walking down the street," Petrino said. "There was a drive-by shooting, and he took off and ran. He all the sudden fell to the ground, and there was a bullet that hit his foot."
Sturghill had surgery to repair a fracture caused by the shooting, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Sturghill had become one of Louisville's most hyped players during spring practices, as he had reportedly run a 40-yard dash in just 4.2 seconds. He played sparingly on special teams during his freshman season last year, but the Cardinals definitely had high hopes for him this year.
We wish Sturghill the best in his recovery from this unfortuante incident.
