As the younger brother of former LSU star Leonard Fournette, you better believe there were some lofty expectations for running back Lanard Fournette when he arrived in Baton Rouge. Sure, he wasn't highly ranked coming out of high school, but the name alone had college football fans thinking about even more greatness. It appears that his time with the Tigers program is officially over.
According to ESPN's Edward Aschoff, Fournette has left the team. The report says the senior graduated from LSU in May and withdrew from school because he "just wants to move on with his life."
Although the LSU Tigers and head coach Ed Orgeron haven't used the 5-foot-10, 185-pound ball carrier much this season, it's still never fun to see a player walk away in the middle of a special season.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Fournette starred at St. Augustine High School before arriving at LSU. Over his four years, he compiled just 162 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Those aren't quite the numbers of his brother, who rushed for 3,830 yards and 40 touchdowns during his All-American career, but it was going to be hard for anyone in the SEC to top the college statistics of the starting running back for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.
Other than this being the start of an amazing season for the LSU Tigers, one filled with College Football Playoff hopes, there's a good chance he could have seen some carries during this weekend's matchup against Utah State.
Even with departure of Fournette, who had 36 yards and a touchdown this season, the LSU football team is still stacked at running back with starter Clyde Edwards-Helaire as well as freshmen John Emery Jr. and Tyrion Davis-Price.
Sometimes, it's just best to move on, and that's exactly what Lanard Fournette is doing as a proud LSU alumni.
