Ken Handy-Holly, a former four-star cornerback prospect turned solid freshman, is transferring out of Minnesota.
Having appeared in eight games last season for the Golden Gophers, Handy-Holly had 12 tackles, one pass breakup, one pass defended, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
While most reputable scouting service websites listed him as a three-star talent coming out of high school, Scout did list Handy-Holly as a four-star (pre-merger).
247Sports.com had previously reported that the safety was looking to transfer to be closer to family in Jackson, Ala.
By way of NCAA transfer rules, barring an unforeseen waiver, the defensive back will have to sit the upcoming season before becoming eligible to play the following year.
Coming out of high school, he received offers from Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, North Carolina State and Wake Forest, among others. Since it is said that he wants to play closer to home, if any of those teams are still interested and/or not being blocked, a reasonable deduction could be made that the SEC is the talent's most likely destination — unless he plans on transferring down to the FCS or JUCO ranks.
Nevertheless, that's all conjecture. We will have more on this story when Handy-Holly releases more information about potential landing spots.
