The commits were very needed for Mississippi State, as they have the unenviable task of keeping up with the rest of the SEC in recruiting. After the commits, Mississippi State does move up to 19th overall in 247Sports recruiting rankings; that sounds good — and it is — but they still rank eighth overall in the SEC.

Mississippi State now has 13 commits and nine early signees for the 2017 recruiting class.
