Florida State safety Derwin James will be missing the first week of fall camp, but not for long. It was reported late last month that James underwent surgery in mid-July to repair a small fracture in his foot. James, who aggravated an ankle injury this summer, is expected to miss about 5-7 days of fall camp, according to 247Sports.com, but he should be good to go after that.

"According to [James] right now, he's ready to go, and I think he is, but we're going to make sure it heals the right way and do some other tests to ease him back in," Fisher said via 247Sports on Tuesday.

James is reportedly already working on change-of-direction skills. As a true freshman last season, James emerged as one of college football's top defenders. In 13 games, James recorded 91 total tackles (9.5 TFL), four pass break ups, and 4.5 sacks. James helped lead a Seminole defense that was ninth in scoring defense in 2015 and 19th in total defense.
