UCF has hired former Baylor assistant Jeff Lebby, the son-in-law of disgraced former head coach Art Briles, who was on the Bears staff during the school's sexual assault scandal last year, according to ESPN.
Lebby spent the past football season working at Southeastern University, a NAIA school in Lakeland, Florida.
He had previously spent nine seasons at Baylor, which included staying with the program under replacement coach Jim Grobe following his father-in-law's termination amid an investigation by a third party that found "significant concerns about the tone and culture within Baylor's football program as it relates to accountability for all forms of athlete misconduct," as part of a larger sexual assault scandal involving the university.
A UCF spokesman confirmed to ESPN that "every candidate is thoroughly vetted," specifically Lebby given his past ties to Baylor.
The Knights have also hired defensive line coach Shane Burnham, running backs coach Anthony Tucker, wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt, assistant directors of sports performance Rodney Hill and Dave Young, director of plater development Steve Smith and assistant director of player personnel Marc Votteler this offseason following the hiring of new head coach Josh Heupel.
