One way too early mock draft has surprising QB at the top

The mock draft has the New York Giants selecting first overall, which is surprising enough on its own. But it has the Giants selecting Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason with the top pick.

The analysis for the pick includes how if the Giants do land the top pick in two years, it will be because of Eli Manning's struggles. Manning will be 38 years old by that point, and he has already struggled in recent years.

Eason made strides during his freshman season at Georgia, and he could very easily be the top quarterback prospect of the draft in two years.

At 6'5, 235 pounds, Eason has great size for an NFL QB. He had accuracy issues throughout his freshman year as he only completed 55 percent of his passes, but he has a very strong arm and improved as a decision maker over the course of the season.

Eason threw for 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season, and he is battling incoming freshman Jake Fromm for the starting QB position for Georgia in 2017.

The Giants just drafted former Cal quarterback Davis Webb in the third round of the 2017 draft. Webb is a project, but he will have plenty of time to learn and develop behind Manning.

If Eason improves his accuracy and turns the ball over less, he could certainly be the top QB prospect in the draft in two years. If Georgia is going to compete for a championship during the next two years, Eason will need to be among the nation's best.
