TCU's Gary Patterson Releases New Country Song: Take a Step Back ·

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic and COVID-19 outbreak, everyone had to find new ways to pass the time. Since getting out was not much of an option, many took the moments at home to take a deep dive into new projects. That includes TCU head coach Gary Patterson.

Patterson took a break from college football this offseason to write a country song in Fort Worth, Texas. He released the song and music video for "Take a Step Back" on Twitter on Friday night, June 12.

"This song was written back in April during the peak of COVID," he wrote on social media. "I wanted to remind people to enjoy the time with their families, get to know their neighbors, and be kind to each other through it all."

Needless to say, Patterson scored a pretty big preseason touchdown, especially with Horned Frogs fans and football players.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, TCU coach Gary Patterson teamed up with TCU alum JT Hodges for 2 minutes and 18 seconds of a fun country song and music video that shows true Texas pride and many football-related activities everyone is ready for again this fall.

Patterson can definitely sing, too. Here are the lyrics for his new, trending single:

TCU football coach Gary Patterson can now focus on the upcoming NCAA season with voluntary workouts starting up, and there's no doubt that song will be blared during tailgates for years to come.
