TCU head coach Gary Patterson is not afraid to speak his mind. In fact, he is one of the best coaches in the country at defending his players when they are wronged. CBS Sports college football writer Barton Simmons has learned that the hard way this week.
No, the nationally-ranked Horned Frogs didn't beat No. 4 Ohio State last Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and they aren't playing like the best team in the country, but they are the 17th-best team. That is for a good reason, too.
So, once Simmons dubbed TCU's players as a roster of 'rejects' in the headline of an article, Patterson blasted it in great fashion on social media ahead of the game at Texas this weekend,

The article was meant to be a compliment, as weird as it may seem. Simmons believes Patterson recruits players to TCU that weren't looked at by other schools, such as Texas. TCU doesn't have as many blue-blood, five and four-star prospects as them, either, but the Horned Frogs still find ways to win big games in the Big 12 Conference.
The premise seems fair, but the wording, calling it a roster of rejects, is certainly off the mark and far from the truth. Patterson made sure to let CBS, Simmons, and everyone else know he will not tolerate it.
"There is no reason to degrade an athlete or any person for any reason let alone a click!" Patterson tweeted with three frog emojis and one football emoji.
Take a look at the TCU Horned Frogs Roster. There are players who turned down offers from the likes of Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and even Texas, just to name five major programs, to play for Patterson at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.

No. 17 TCU heads to Austin this weekend to face the Texas Longhorns at Darrell K. Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium.
With a rather phenomenal coach at the helm in Patterson and a little extra motivation, don't be surprised to see the Horned Frogs take it up a notch and prove they are even better than the backhanded compliment they were given this week.
