Former Florida tight end Jake McGee has another shot at playing in the NFL. On Tuesday, the Oakland Raiders announced that they have signed the free-agent McGee. McGee originally signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in May of this year following the draft, but he was waived later in that same month.
McGee played two seasons at Florida after transferring from Virginia, where he spent three seasons from 2011-13. McGee appeared in 50 games and totaled 112 receptions for 1,150 yards with 11 touchdowns. As a senior in 2015, the 6-foot-6, 250-pounder named one of eight John Mackey Award semifinalists.
McGee transferred to UF in the summer of 2014, just a few months after Florida football announced the hiring of new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper, who is now the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with Will Muschamp at South Carolina.
