Deshaun Watson may go down as one of the greatest college football players to not win the Heisman Trophy award... and that doesn't looks like something that he's very happy about.
In his appearance on Jon Gruden's QB Camp segment on ESPN, Watson made a very pointed statement when asked what it takes to win a Heisman Trophy.
"I'm not sure... I guess lose a couple games?"

Watson's remarks come after Lamar Jackson won the Heisman last year despite Louisville falling off at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Watson did some of his best work to end the year, as Clemson beat Ohio State and Alabama in the College Football Playoff... after the Heisman had already been awarded.
Jackson scored over 50 total touchdowns in the 2016 season, and it seems that Watson's beef is less with him and more with the Heisman being awarded when it is. While its awarding does come after conference championships, the fact of the matter is that many votes come in before the regular season is even over. With much of the season still to go, it would make sense to make the voters wait until the season is fully over before making a decision.
Regardless, Watson is about to make a lot of money in the NFL Draft... he'll probably get over this in due time.
