Alabama assistant taking another job despite already accepting one with Colorado State

Derrick Ansley is having himself a week. Only a few days after it was reported that he would take a job with Colorado State as an assistant, the former Alabama Crimson Tide staffer has now taken a position with the Oakland Raiders.

Almost technically speaking, but not all the way, that gives Derrick Ansley three employers in a few days span. Not too shabby.

Football Scoop was the first to report this move.

For those unaware, Ansley was Alabama's defensive backs coach. He joined Nick Saban's staff for the 2010-11 voyage, but was coaching at the Division III level prior to that. Heading into Monday night's title game against the Georgia Bulldogs, Ansley's secondary led the nation in pass efficiency defense.

At the time, it was expected he'd be named Colorado State's defensive coordinator after the title game.

Colorado State, a program that struggled on defense this past season, was hoping Ansley would come in to fix some issues on that side of the football.

While he was set to be Colorado State's defensive coordinator, it is being reported that he's being brought to Oakland to help the franchise with its secondary.

Ansley is the second Alabama defensive staffer to leave for a promotion this offseason. Early in the season, defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt took the Tennessee Volunteers head coaching position.

That is, you know, unless he has a change of heart... again.
