The title for the best running back in the SEC has been a tumultuous race this season, largely thanks to lingering injuries to stars like Leonard Fournette, Nick Chubb, and Jalen Hurd.

It seems that SEC on CBS broadcaster Gary Danielson has taken note of that, as he picked a very surprising name for who he thinks is the best running back in the conference: Tennessee's Alvin Kamara.

After calling 3 UT games Gary Danielson on Alvin Kamara: "In my mind, the top back in the league right now. Name anybody. I'll take Kamara."

That statement comes after Kamara's big game over Texas A&M, where he had 288 total yards and three touchdowns. Kamara really exhibited dual strengths in the running and receiving game against A&M, which is something that no other major back in the SEC can really match right now.

Still, Kamara only has a couple of big games to hang his hat on right now. Even if you take away Chubb and Fournette because of injuries, you still have guys like Texas A&M's Trayveon Williams and Vanderbilt's Ralph Webb getting snubbed to put Kamara at the top.

Kamara will move back into a more supplemental role in Week 7 against No. 1 Alabama, as Hurd — the regular starter — is healthy after missing the game against Texas A&M. Thanks to his versatility, though, Kamara will still have a chance to make a big impact in the biggest game of Tennessee's season.
