Former WWE wrestler Brian Christopher Lawler, known by his ring name "Grandmaster Sexay," is dead following a suicide attempt. He was 46 years old.
Serving time for a DUI arrest earlier in July, Lawler was found in his Hardeman County Jail cell after trying to hang himself on Saturday night. Lawler was rushed to a hospital outside of Memphis on life support, where he died on Sunday afternoon.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has ruled out foul play as they continue investigating Lawler's death.
Brian Lawler, aka Grandmaster Sexay, was the son of Kay and WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler. Lawler's family was by his side when he passed away at Regional One Medical Center.
Kevin Lawler, Brian's brother, posted this heartfelt message to Facebook on Sunday:
"Lots of different stories and rumors about my brother today. But as of 30 minutes ago he has officially passed. I love U and will miss U my brother! A very sad day today. Words can't describe."
From 1998 to 2001, Too Cool was one of the most electric tag team duos in professional wrestling. "Scotty Too Hotty" Scott Taylor and "Grandmaster Sexay" Brian Lawler, later joined by fabled big man Rakishi, were one of the most popular tag team trios in WWE history.
One of the fan favorites, Too Cool won the WWF Tag Team Championships in May 2000, the only title the pair of Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty Too Hotty would capture over their run in the professional wrestling.

No one had the same in-ring charisma as Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty. The duo grew not for their wrestling accomplishments, but for the emotional bonds they built with fans over their reign.
The WWE Universe took to social media after hearing the news of Lawler's death.

The wrestling world also lost WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Nikolai Volkoff over the weekend.
Volkoff, whose real name was Josip Nikolai Peruzovi?, portrayed a Soviet villain from 1967 until 1995. Peruzovi?, who was actually Croatian, famously paired with The Iron Sheik in the 1980s to become one of wrestlings most formidable tag team duos.
The pair famously won the WWF Tag Team Championships at the first ever Wrestlemania event.

Although his professional run seemed brief, but anyone who was a professional wrestling fan in the early 2000s knows exactly who Brian Christopher Lawler and Too Cool were, and what they meant to the WWE Universe can never be taken away.
Both WWE stars left their mark on World Wrestling Entertainment, and will be honored this week on all WWE platforms.
