Blizzard's servers have finally come back online after several hours of downtime today that left players without access to Hearthstone, Diablo III, Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft, or Overwatch earlier this morning.
The login issues have been resolved. Thanks for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience. #BlizzCS

The login issues, which prevented players from accessing any Blizzard games that require server authentication, were the subject of complaints among gamers who hoped to start their Easter Sunday with a healthy bout of gaming.
Though some have speculated that the issues were the result of a DDoS attack on their servers, Blizzard has made no mention of such an incident. It would fall in line with former attacks, however, that have shut down their servers for significant game launches and periodically afterwards. That these servers would go down on a holiday, and for such a lengthy period of time, does arouse suspicion about the truth behind the downtime.
According to one Tweet, Blizzard was forced to take their servers offline in order to "ensure the safety of the hardware."
Due to an outage, game servers were taken offline to ensure the safety of the hardware. We are working to bring services back online.

Whether or not this suggests any level of malicious intent behind the outages, of course, is open to interpretation.
Still, the Blizzard servers are back up as of 9:50 AM and will likely run smoothly for the remainder of the holiday.
