Arizona has suspended assistant coach Mark Phelps and senior Keanu Pinder, the university announced on Friday.
Phelps has been suspended without pay for five days for an undisclosed violation of NCAA rules. He'll miss Friday night's opener against Northern Arizona and Sunday's game against UMBC while Pinder will only be withheld from Friday night's game for violating NCAA rules.
The school said in the release that the suspension for Phelps is not related to the ongoing federal investigation into recruiting practices. Arizona assistant coach Emanuel Richardson was arrested last month as a result of a federal investigation alleging bribes from shoe companies.
Arizona enters the season ranked third in the AP Top 25 poll.
