Drama emerged early on National Signing Day as four-star defensive end Jarez Parks (6-foot-4, 260 pounds, Sebastian, Fla.) pushed his scheduled commitment back amid reports that Alabama — his lead school — may not have a spot for him. After a couple of hours, Parks later announced his commitment to Alabama in an interview on Facebook.

Multiple reports are on social media about Parks' status with the schools, but the latest from Rivals appears to be that Parks will take a grayshirt with Alabama and enroll next January.

What I'm told on Jarez Parks- He has committed to #Alabama as a grayshirt. He will enroll next January. @TideSports

A grayshirt is an interesting strategy, but Parks apparently has his heart set on the Crimson Tide. The proof behin that: Parks had apparently been sure on his commitment to Alabama for quite a while, as Bleacher Report released a pre-recorded video of his commitment from Paris, France.

Alabama currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation per 247Sports, but it is still crazy that they couldn't find room for a recruit that is ranked as highly as Parks is.
