From now on, and for the remainder of the school year, there will be something new on a part of every Texas A&M Aggies uniforms. All varsity athletics teams will either wear a tribute helmet decal or uniform patch to honor the memory of former President George H.W. Bush.
Bush, the 41st President of the United States, passed away Friday at the age of 94 in Houston, Texas. He was "a great friend to Texas A&M's Department of Athletics" with College Station nearby his home in Houston, and will be buried at his presidential library, a 90-acre site on the west campus of Texas A&M, on Thursday.

The tribute patch, which was approve by the Bush family, is maroon and white, and the patch artwork is representative of the shield element from the official President Bush 41 logo.
The Aggies men's and women's basketball teams will begin wearing the uniforms after Thursday afternoon's funeral service, while the Texas A&M football team will wear the design as a helmet decal when Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack in TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Dec. 31 at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
According to Texas A&M University Athletics Staff, all Texas A&M athletics squads will eventually wear a tribute uniform patch for the 2018-19 school year.
President George H.W. Bush, a Yale University graduate, was a big fan of the 12th Man, too, and the 12th Man was big fan of the former POTUS. It was only fitting to hold a pregame ceremony before the Yale-Texas A&M baseball game at Olsen Field and Blue Bell Park in 2016.
Nobody will forget the lasting impact of President Bush, especially at Texas A&M University.
