When former Texas quarterback and NFL standout Vince Young announced his intention to return to professional football, it was big news. That came in the spring, as Young joined the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders as a first step toward his ultimate goal of an NFL rebirth. However, the former Heisman Trophy winner quickly encountered a roadblock in the form of a torn hamstring and things never became easier for Young with his club.
Now, word has broken, via Young's agent Leigh Steinberg, that he has been waived as a byproduct of the injury.

From here, it will be very interesting to see what kind of path that Young and his advisory team choose to continue the pursuit.
At the age of 34, Young certainly is not "too old" to pursue this endeavor, especially at the quarterback position. Still, things did not always go according to plan for the former Texas standout at the NFL level and it has now been five-plus years since Young suited up at the NFL level.
Can the comeback continue? Absolutely. With that said, this is definitely a blow to the hope that Vince Young would be in the NFL sooner rather than later and his next move will be a crucial one.
