UFC middleweight fighter Josh Samman has passed away after spending a week in a coma. Samman was 28.
FOX Sports was the first to report the news.
Samman was found last Thursday unresponsive in his apartment next to his friend and MMA announcer Troy Kirkenburg. Kirkenburg was pronounced dead on Thursday, while Samman spent the following days in a coma. No foul play was suspected in the incident.
Although a cause of death hasn't been reported, Samman has struggled with substance abuse issues in the past. FOX is reporting that while a drug overdose has been suspected, Samman had no heroin in his system at the time of the incident.
Samman originally debuted with UFC as a part of the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter. He had a 12-4 record as a professional fighter.
