Sad news today--one of the great coaches & people in college sports Tubby Raymond has died. Respected by all in the profession. Also loved to paint. As an assistant coach he did the illustrations for a 1962 football book by the great Coach Nelson @RichGannon12 @JoeBiden pic.twitter.com/v70XIGvIEU

So sorry to lose the best coach I ever had...the one and only Tubby Raymond! The best thing to ever happen to me and Delaware football. I don’t play in the NFL 17yrs without him!
God Bless Coach!

Raymond has a 300-119-3 record as a football coach and was a baseball coach as well before he took over UD football in 1966 until he retired in 2001. From 1952 to 1964 he had a 178-81-3 record at Maine and Delaware. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003 and won a Division-II National Championship in 1979 while appearing in the playoffs many years afterr as well.
