With all of the recent Doctor Who hype I couldn’t help but laugh hysterically when my son was watching Paddington yesterday. From the moment you see a phone booth and Peter Capaldi walk up mistaking Nicole Kidman for a man, it’s simply hilarious. The entire time you’re thinking “this is Doctor Who!” The best part of that the movie is so overly aware of it and is hiding nothing whatsoever.
What you think is this fun movie about a children’s book can really be trimmed down to a one man movie. Seriously, someone actually took the liberty of doing this back in 2015 with the following description.
I wanted to watch Paddington because of Paddington’s adorable eyes on the poster. I ended up watching it because of Peter Capadi. Welcome to my ONE MAN MOVIES, and here we see Mr Curry in action. The most adorable annoying neighbor you could ever have. Spoiler alert! Peter Capaldi has got 10 minutes of screen time, so there’s not much spoiled, I have to admit. (I counted! 10 minutes!) I used Tim Minchin’s song Not Perfect. I did cut a lot out (it’s 6 minutes long) Please listen to the full version, it’s brilliant! I don’t own the rights to Not Perfect, or the movie Paddington. (Both are awesome by the way)
