The story involving the reported murder of former All-American linebacker Antonio Armstrong has taken an interesting development. On July 29, Armstrong and his wife were allegedly killed by their 16-year-old son in the morning. Armstrong was taken to the hospital and later passed away, while his wife, Dawn, was found dead on the scene.
Armstrong's son has now reportedly told police that he saw a "masked man" in his parents' bedroom the night they were killed. The Houston Chronicle reported that the teen called authorities himself and said he heard gunshots in his parents' room, had seen a masked man and that he was hiding in a closet. However, prosecutors are having a hard time following the teen's stories. Below is an excerpt from the Houston Chronicle's report.
"When police arrived, the teen disabled the home's security system and let them in, Assistant District Attorney John Brewer said in juvenile court.
Police arrested the 16-year-old when he was "not able to give a convincing story of any kind," Brewer said. Police found a .22-caliber pistol and a note on the kitchen counter, but no evidence of a robbery or burglary or any sign of forced entry, he said."
Armstrong played at A&M from 1991-1995, and he was named an AP All-American his senior year after recording 62 tackles and 17 tackles for loss on the season. He had a memorable performance in a Cotton Bowl loss to Notre Dame to close his college career, as he recorded three sacks in that game.
Armstrong was taken in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL Draft, and he played several seasons in the NFL and CFL before retiring. He has been working as a coach and a fitness instructor since. According to 247Sports, Armstrong had also paid regular visits with the Texas A&M football as a motivational speaker.
