Former USC QB believes Tennessee fans should be happy team didnt hire former player

Former USC quarterback Sean Salisbury was critical of Trojans offensive coordinator Tee Martin during Friday's Cotton Bowl loss to Ohio State. In fact, Salisbury believes that Tennessee, who Martin led to a BCS national championship as a quarterback in 1998, was fortunate to pass on the assistant during its recent head coaching search.

Tennessee Volunteer fans be happy you didn't hire Tee Martin as your head coach! I'm a USC guy. Trust me that wouldn't have worked out well for Vols fans!

Salisbury clarified his critique when asked about the USC assistant that was hired by Tennessee, new offensive coordinator Tyson Helton and added that he will be rooting for him to succeed in Knoxville.

Tee Martin is a good coach just a ways away from being head coach ready. Helton hasn't been tested yet but held in high regard
