If there’s one actor out there I couldn’t be happier about getting larger roles in the last decade, it’s Michael Shannon. The reality is that he’s always been a great actor. He’s always been adept at playing “the weird guy” but he’s so much more than that and has proved it time and time again. His latest film, Salt and Fire looks like its gonna be a good one. The film stars Shannon, Gael GarcÃa Bernal, and Anita Briem, and is directed by Werner Herzog.
It’s rare that you get a trailer with zero dialogue but this one executes perfectly. For those who don’t know what the film is about here’s a quick overview. When a scientist working in South America discovers that a super-volcano in the region is about to erupt, she must team up with the head of a corporation known for its sub-par environmental track record to avert a global catastrophe.
But as you’ll see in the trailer, in order to avert this disaster, it’s not exactly done in the cleanest of ways. Something tells me that Shannon is a big part of the lengths people will go to in fact avoid this disaster.
