Here’s the thing about mashups. 90% of the time no one, not even the video creator knows why they are making the mashup. Something just pops into their head and they run with it. There can’t be any other explanation. 10% of the time it’s 100% deliberate and people are really looking for connections, clues, and ways of mapping out each medium they are mashing up. But it’s the randomness that I think people enjoy. No mashup I’ve ever seen is more “random” than the one I’m about to share with you and at the same time it just works so incredibly well.
The folks at Pistol Shrimps have taken footage of Tommy Wiseau as Johnny from The Room and inserted him into the Star Wars universe. It begins with Johnny replacing Rey at the end The Force Awakens. He approaches a cloaked Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill), telling him how he didn’t hit Lisa — his beautiful and unfaithful fiance — and delivers his signature line: “Oh, hi Mark.” He then asks about Jedi’s sex life and tosses him a football, which perfectly bounces off Luke’s head as he stares amazed and conflicted at Johnny.
