Kiffin, who was previously Alabama's offensive coordinator for three seasons, was hired as the Florida Atlantic head coach earlier this month.
Briles was the offensive coordinator for his father, Art, at Baylor and he was actually retained through the 2016 season after the sexual assault scandal at Baylor resulted in the elder Briles being fired back in May.
Baylor has since moved on with their coaching staff after appointing Jim Grobe as the 2016 interim coach, as the Bears have hired former Temple coach Matt Rhule as their head coach.
