Plaxico Burress and Nick Saban aren't exactly linked in the minds of the casual college football fan. It has been a long time since Burress and Saban teamed up in East Lansing as part of the program at Michigan State, but Burress has some interesting memories of Saban's eventual departure for LSU.

On Wednesday, Saban took to the microphone at SEC Media Days and stated that he wanted the NFL Draft to evaluate underclassmen after the bowl season was complete in order to avoid negative impact in practice and bowl games.

In small media session, Nick Saban said he wants NFL Draft underclass grades moved until after the season. Said it impacted Ala bowl prep

This didn't sit kindly with Burress, who unleashed a flurry of tweets in Saban's direction, taking the angle that Saban's statements on Thursday did not align with his personal movements from more than a decade ago.

I recall Nick Saban telling me to stay in school finish what I started, I wasnt 1st round pick and he left for LSU b4 the season was over

Now Nick Saban players are being distracted by the NFL and chasing a dream, haha tell your story Nick. LSU showed you $$, you was GONE! Ha

Nick Saban actually told me I was a second round pick. I said, "where are you getting your info from? Are you watching these games? Hahaha

— Plaxico Burress (@plaxicoburress) July 15, 2015

After the comments from Burress made waves in the world of social media, he came back for more and solicited other former Michigan State athletes.

I told a true story and people are upset. Hahaha. Don't blame me, ask the rest of the players I played with, they'll tell you the same story

— Plaxico Burress (@plaxicoburress) July 16, 2015

Finally, he took a parting shot at Saban and dropped the mic.

I was a 19 year old kid, the man that recruited me to play for him, look me in my face and told me a lie.

Strong accusations sometimes find a home on Twitter, but they are especially noteworthy coming from a well-known NFL player when referring to perhaps the best coach in college football.
