If there was ever a situation where you could step away from a sport, mid-season, former Yankees and Braves outfielder Nick Swisher has the best reason possible.

In a post he wrote on Facebook, Swisher said he cut his season short because he wants to be with his family, after the birth of his second child. Cue the "awwww's."

Swisher, 35, has been playing with the Yankees minor league affiliate. Swisher says this isn't a full-on retirement, so hopefully he gets back on the field sooner than later.

If not, we can all take comfort in the fact that Nick the Family Man is more important than Nick the Outfielder.
