The San Francisco 49ers are struggling. The team is 0-5 to begin the first season under John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan and, while some of their issues are not exactly unexpected, it is never fun in the NFL to see a team flailing within the white lines of the field.
With that as the backdrop, it appears that the Niners could be flipping even further into rebuild mode and, as it has now been reported by NFL.com's Ian Rapoport that the Niners have released three-time Pro Bowler NaVorro Bowman.

It had originally been reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter that Bowman was on the trade block, but it looks like San Francisco didn't find any takers.
49ers shopping LB NaVorro Bowman, and there are teams interested, sources tell ESPN. His time in SF soon could come to an end.

The 29-year-old linebacker appeared in only four games a season ago and, as a result of injury issues, Bowman isn't quite the same player that he was in three Pro Bowl seasons. In the same breath, it isn't as if it is impossible to imagine Bowman playing at a high level for a few more seasons but, in San Francisco, everything is future driven and the team has now moved on from the linebacker.
