The Mississippi State Bulldogs didn't come into the season with much hype. Forget that now. The hype is here. The Bulldogs are ranked number one in the nation nd Sports Illustrated even has star quarterback Dak Prescott on the cover of its magazine.

How did they get here? By beating three ranked teams in a row starting with a 34-29 thrill ride against then-No. 8 LSU. Then it was a 48-31 smashing of No. 6 Texas A&M and finally a convincing win against No. 2 Auburn 38-23. This team is the only one in the history of the polls to go from unranked to number 1 in the span of five weeks. Sports Illustrated is only the beginning and it looks like head coach Dan Mullen has this team headed to an undefeated season by the time they play in the Egg Bowl against in-state rival Ole Miss.
