Michigan fans and Ohio State fans don't always play nice together, but in the case of Mike and Stephanie Stout, they made things work. Mike (an Ohio State fan) and Stephanie (a Michigan fan) recently got married, and they did the unthinkable.
The couple took their wedding pictures inside the tunnel at Michigan Stadium and they combined to create the "O-H-I-O" sign in the process.
This is wildly interesting on a number of levels, including the fact that both parties agreed to the festivities. Tom VanHaaren of ESPN brings word from Mike that their future kids will have the right to choose their allegiance, saying "we have an agreement that when it comes to baby clothes, whatever is clean will be worn, but once they're old enough, they will have the right to decide on their own to be Buckeyes."
ESPN's use of the "It's not crazy, it's sports" promotional material has brought a great deal of attention to couples like this who see things in the sports world from opposite points of view. Michigan supporters will undoubtedly cringe at the thought of OSU paraphernalia being flashed in the Big House, and the Ohio State faithful will certainly have the same reaction to a Buckeye tying the knot with a reference to Michigan.
The rivalry lives on, but this couple managed to get beyond it for the greater good.
Fans aren't always this benevolent.
